I was in a state of "David encouraged himself in the LORD". Enemies are not necessarily people - though it does apply. Life frustrations, disappointments, personal sin and the Self can comprise some of the enemies we battle on a day to day basis. These enemies flood our minds, clouding our judgement with thoughts and imaginations that raise themselves up against the knowledge of God in us. That's where the Scriptures say: ISAIAH 59:19 {kjv} When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. This word 'standard' was used in the proverbial sense to relate to the world of voyaging. The standard is structure on the ship that has sheet like material supported by a pole, used to power the ship by wind energy. This was used before the invention of the turbine engines. When the winds are strong in the ocean, the standard was raised. So instead of the ship capsizing because of the winds, it would move the ship according to the direction of the wind. The voyagers were very discerning as to know the direction of winds and so they would always be on track with where they were headed in terms of the direction of the winds. Now the Holy Spirit is the Captain of our Ship. Why? The Scripture say that: 1st CORINTHIANS 3:16 {kjv} Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? When the enemy comes with the aim of destroying you, the Spirit in you will raise up a standard against them. He knows and has already discerned your destiny, so you need not worry about the present challenging happenings, situations and circumstances that seek to capsize you on your journey.
