This is a live presentation given at the Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre on the 13th of October, 2022. Sandra explains the soil microbiome with particular focus on the vital role of soil fungi in carbon sequestration, plant immunity, soil structure and moisture holding capacity. She discusses the key microbes and their roles in the soil food web-plant relationship and how this drives ecological succession. Sandra explains the need to regenerate soils with life in farming systems and how to achieve this through the Giving Soil initiative, a community based endeavour to help farmers draw down carbon back into soils while diverting food waste from landfill.
