One minute you’re fine, and the next, the “wrong-colored plate” incident has your heart racing like you’re being chased by tiger. 🐯 If you feel a “spike” coming on, don’t guilt-trip yourself. Instead, use the ABC Strategy—a core ABA tool—infused with a little Gospel peace. This has helped me regulate BIG emotions. Simple and practical! A – The Antecedent (The Trigger): Recognize the “Sensory Storm.” Is it the humming? The flickering lights? The sticky floors? ✨Jesus withdrew to quiet places when the crowds got too loud (Luke 5:16). If He needed a sensory break, you do too. B – The Behavior (The Reset): Use a coping strategy! This isn’t a “fail”—it is healthy stewardship of your body. 🧊 The Strategy: Hold an ice cube or splash cold water on your face. It’s a biological “force quit” for your panic. 🌬️ The Prayer: Use the 5-5-5 breath. Inhale Grace, Hold Peace, Exhale Chaos. C – The Consequence (The Reinforcer): Instead of punishing yourself with guilt, give yourself Positive Reinforcement. ☕️ The Move: Take 60 seconds of quiet or a sip of (hopefully) hot coffee. 🙌 The Promise: God’s power is made perfect in your weakness (2 Cor 12:9). Your reward for being overwhelmed isn’t a lecture—it’s more mercy. Mama, you aren’t a bad mom; you’re a human mom with a system at capacity.
