The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Yellow Alert, warning residents of dense fog, low visibility, and severe cold conditions across the National Capital Region (NCR). The overnight rainfall worsened the ongoing cold, making the “real-feel” temperatures even lower due to high humidity and winds blowing at 13 kmph. Several areas in Delhi and neighboring regions, including Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad, reported dense fog reducing visibility below 100 meters, creating hazardous travel conditions. The IMD cautioned that the Yellow Alert for fog and cold is expected to continue for the next 24 to 48 hours, advising residents to take necessary precautions. Experts also warned that the stagnant cold air combined with water vapor from the rain has trapped pollutants, leading to poor air quality in the NCR, further intensifying the impact of winter chill.
