Join us for Orthros and the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great on the Second Sunday of Great Lent — the Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas (March 8, 2026). Saint Gregory Palamas, Archbishop of Thessalonica, was a great defender of the Orthodox faith and teacher of the Church. In the 14th century he boldly proclaimed that the grace of God is not created, but the uncreated energies of God, through which humanity truly participates in divine life. He is also closely associated with the tradition of hesychia — stillness and inner prayer, reminding us that in silence and humility we encounter God. In today’s sermon, Fr. Andrew reflects on the spiritual wisdom of St. Gregory Palamas and the importance of cultivating quiet prayer in our lives, especially through the Jesus Prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Sunday, March 8, 2026 Fast Day — Wine and oil are allowed.
