Important update: Hepatitis B vaccination is now required for people younger than 59 years old. The lab tests include tests for tuberculosis, syphilis and gonorrhea. The requirement for each of the tests is dependent on your age. The tuberculosis test is required for applicants who are age 2 or older. There are two tuberculosis tests available. Currently, covid-19 booster is not required for the purpose of immigration medical exam. Tetanus vaccine such as the Tdap or the Td is needed if you are age 11 or older. It is recommended to have a Tetanus booster every 10 years. If you had a tetanus shot within the past 10 years, you meet the requirement for tetanus vaccination. MMR vaccine which protects people against Measles, Mumps and Rubella is required for applicants aged 1 to 64 years. Besides getting the MMR vaccination, you can also meet the MMR vaccine requirement if your MMR titers through blood test are positive. MMR vaccine is contraindicated during pregnancy. Similarly, Varicella vaccine is required for applicants who are age 1 or older. Besides getting the varicella vaccination, you can also meet the varicella vaccine requirement if your varicella titer through blood test is positive or if you had history of chicken pox. Varicella vaccine is contraindicated during pregnancy. Flu shot is required for applicants who are age six months or older.
