Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell discusses a move by the NSW government to appoint an “outsider” to take on the role of the head of the Rural Fire Service Commission which raised eyebrows. Mr Clennell revealed Shane Fitzsimmons, who was the RFS commissioner under the Liberal government and appointed to head Resilience NSW under former premier Gladys Berejiklian, went for this job and missed out. “Instead, it went to Trent Curtin, a person with a long history of being an executive, including for the Country Fire Authority in Victoria and Fire and Rescue NSW, but most of his career was spent in Victoria,” he said.
