Project 71 The falling angels of Nightcliff Beach

I have been living at Nightcliff Beach on and off for decades and therefore know its features very well. The cliff is changing and eroding at accelerated pace noticably during the past four years. I think this is now so because the natural erosive forces being on the 'steroids of climate change' turbocharged by recreational use and with fires sparked during territory day, the latter damaging the Pandanus and Casuarina trees which help to hold the soil of the cliff together. Once there was one unique tree that inspired people, dubbed by many as the tree of resilience. Inevitably it had to fall because nothing is above the natural laws such as gravity and the tidal power of the ocean. Interestingly many new trees also falling over and that even before cyclone Fina hit last year. The cliff at various points is getting uglier with large rock dumps by Council to slow the effects of the force of nature a beautiful feature vanishing before our eyes and forever. This video is in memory of the idea of this tree and perhaps if I live long enough there will be a sequel of the memory of the disappearing cliff.
