I play a random map game on the alpha build of Age of Empires. It ends up being a cakewalk with no difficulty options, but it is very interesting to see how different and how similar things are this early in development. The biggest things I noticed is that there are no hotkeys whatsoever, units mostly cost food or wood with gold being used as a substitute when you create units without having enough resources. There are many obvious visual differences, and a hilarious feature is that your units can actually become aggressive to each other if they accidently friendly fire. Near the end of the video you will see this with my chariot and catapult attacking each other. When starting the game, I use windows media player to play the alpha version of the game's soundtrack on the side. In the future, I may upload another video of me playing through some of the scenarios and campaigns in this version. I ran the game through a virtual machine running Windows XP.
