A simple scout neckerchief — and a powerful reminder of faith and unity. During his visit to Ostia, Pope Leo XIV was gifted the treasured symbol of Catholic scouting by three young scouts, responding with the words of the Gospel: “For where two or three are gathered in His name, Jesus is present; Jesus is alive with us.” Behind that moment stands an 80-year story. Founded in 1944 after the liberation of Rome, the “Rome 32” scout group continues to form young people through faith, service, and brotherhood — living out a mission born after World War II to help young people “be united rather than to shoot at one another.” In a fast-moving world, these scouts are learning to go deeper — in friendship, responsibility, and in their relationship with God.
