Rigid Cavovarus Deformity - Tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) Fusion Intramedullary Nail - Case Presentation

https://www.chicagoanklesurgery.com/ Dr. Milap Patel Dr. Anish Kadakia (IG - @ankl_man) A rigid cavovarus foot deformity is a condition in which the foot has a high arch, hindfoot inversion, and forefoot plantar flexion, resulting in an abnormal distribution of weight on the foot. When combined with hindfoot trauma, such as in the case described, this deformity can lead to significant disability. In this particular case, the patient's avascular necrosis of the talus bone was severe enough to require resection of the entire bone. To replace the talus bone, a femoral head allograft was used to bridge the gap, and TTC fusion was performed with an intramedullary nail. Arthrex biological products were also used to assist in fusion. The success of this surgery is evident in the fact that the patient is properly fused and is doing much better two years later.
