So far I wasn't terribly impressed with most budget priced and even mid-range longswords... "you get what you pay for" seems to be particularly true for European sword reproductions. This one though... I mean... how is that even possible?? :D By far the best cutting performance I've ever tested in this price range. Under $500 USD for something that can compete even with some Albion blades? Madness, I tell you. It's based on an Oakeshott Type XVIIIc hand-and-a-half sword from the arsenal of Alexandria, dating to the early 15th century (1414-1419). ** Balaur Arms Type XVIIIc Alexandria - Specifications ** Overall length: 114.5 cm (45'') Blade length: 88 cm (34.64'') Blade thickness: 7mm (≈ 1/4'') at guard, 2 mm (1/16'') at tip (now that's an aggressive distal taper!)
