So you've spent weeks designing your layout on paper or in Anyrail or SCARM, how do you convert that into reality? Here's a few things I've learnt. Thanks for the visit to the Shed, if you liked please subscribe, it's free :) . It's been a while, it's nice to be back, I look forward to the next few months with the layout. Lots of things to do, two TTS decoders to install (links below) and Steam is going to arrive at AHJ!! My next video will be the final conclusion on the Peco Twistlock PL1000 turnout (point) motors. Then my TTS installs, including on my Class 37 and new Aberdonian steam set from Hornby. Please leave comments, I answer all of them and take the majority of constructive ones on board, as you can see on my layout design iterations page: http://www.aberhaltjunction.co.uk/Lay... Main Lessons Learnt: 1. Print out your plans (full size if work is paying for the printing ;) ). You can always scribble notes on them with new ideas etc. 2. Measure twice. Lay once. I jumped in too quickly, story of my life. 3. Use set track curves as gauges (if you have them), keep to your minimum selected radii. Cheaper than buying Peco tracksettas, although watch for dog legs. 4. Don't buy cheap track on eBay because it looks like a bargain. D'oh!! I almost had to fit all of my locos with stay alives. 5. Ask for input from friends/social media. 6. Don't be afraid to rip the design up and start again. I'm much happier with my new design. Although my missus says "What town has three stations, a coal mine and a dock!!!?".... Artistic license??? Lol. Hornby have now started selling directly through Amazon, for the items you can't get at your local model shop they seem to be really good value. Any money I make (which is peanuts) goes to my website upkeep and anything spare allows me to do novel product reviews/how to's (like the Twistlocks not being done elsewhere), I've got quite an interesting one up my sleeve which I think will be of interest. Watch this space. (paid affiliate links) Class 37 TTS decoder for 37 quid!! https://amzn.to/3rzLCzc Wago 3 lever connectors (allows 2 droppers and 1 common lead). https://amzn.to/3wa8fxK Thanks for coming folks, see you again soon.
