‘Resilience and Recovery - A time to Reflect and Recharge? Keynote speech outline Tina Rae In this keynote speech Tina will present the current context for all of us currently supporting our children and young people in school, reflecting upon the heightened levels of stress and anxiety we have all been experiencing throughout the pandemic and more recently as a direct result of the war in the Ukraine. She will make the argument that it is more important than ever that those of us who nurture to also understand how to effectively nurture our own well-being. She will make the argument for recognising the increasing complexity of nurturing roles in schools and the need for additional support for those who are taking on the role of the therapeutic, available adult. She will make reference to the increase in self-harm, depression, anxiety and eating disorders and the importance of developing evidence-based approaches to meeting needs at a preventative level. She will also highlight the need to develop more bespoke systems of support for specific groups including refugee children and their families and those who have suffered a bereavement either due to the pandemic or as a result of the current war. Tina will highlight the importance of developing our own resilience in order to both recover and ultimately recharge so that we can all be fit to engage in a more reflective, creative and nuanced way with our more vulnerable children and young people.
