Han Solo's DL-44 Blaster : Episode 2 - Painty, Painty Time

*DISCLAIMER* This is NOT a functioning firearm!! It is a 3D printed "gun shaped object". The realistic appearance of this prop means one should not carry it around in public or at conventions. It could VERY EASILY be mistaken for a real Weapon!! You've been warned... Hey everybody, welcome to episode 2 of the Han Solo DL-4 Blaster build! In this episode we will get the painting done & get a few of the parts assembled. I start this episode in the paint booth. I first give all the parts that will be metallic a light gloss coat with Pledge floor care. While that is drying i spray the grip handles the brown, stained wood color. For this I use a 70:30 mix of Tamiya Red Brown (XF-64) & Hull Red (XF-9). Next I spray all the metallic parts. The gold parts get Tamiya Gold Leaf (X-12) & the flash suppressor gets Tamiya Chrome Silver (X-11). Back over at the bench I do a little extra work on the flash suppressor. To make the part look a little more like actual metal, I use my absolute favorite metal product, C-1 Metalizer. This is a powder that gets rubbed over the entire part & then buffed out to a beautiful, metal-like finish. I finish this episode by attaching a few of the parts together with CA glue (super glue) & adding a bit of edge wear to the black parts. The edge wear is done by dry brushing Tamiya Chrome Silver (X-11). I use a semi-stiff brush & slowly build up color across the edges. As always, thanks for watching!
