This led to the introduction of the 24x36mm frame, known today as full-frame, which became the industry standard. Enlarger and Candid Photography (6:24): Leica's small negatives necessitated the invention of the enlarger, allowing photographers to create large prints from small films. The discreet size of Leica cameras also fostered candid photography and photojournalism. Mirrorless Camera (6:43): Leica was mirrorless from its inception, a concept that became popular much later in the 1990s and 2000s. Flash Shoe/Accessory Shoe (7:19): In 1925, Leica introduced the accessory shoe, which later became the standard flash shoe on all cameras for attaching various accessories. Standard 50mm Lens (8:35): Leica standardized the 50mm lens as the "natural looking" standard focal length for photography. Integrated Rangefinder (11:20): In 1932, Leica integrated the rangefinder into the camera, allowing for precise optical distance measurement and focus. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) (13:05): In 1953, Leica introduced CAD for lens design in its Canadian factory, using computers as a tool to aid designers in creating lenses with their signature "organic look." Built-in High-Quality Rangefinder and Frame Selector (15:21): With the Leica M3 in 1954, Leica integrated a high-quality rangefinder with adjustable focus and a frame selector that showed the correct frame for different lenses within the viewfinder. Autofocus (16:30): Leica invented autofocus in the 1960s, working on it for 18 years before presenting it at Photokina in 1976 and 1978. However, management decided against it, selling the patent to Minolta. Aspherical Elements in Lenses (19:58): In 1966, Leica introduced the first mass-market lens with an aspherical element in glass, and later developed a method to mass-produce these elements. Apo Lenses (22:01): In 1975, Leica introduced the first apochromatic (apo) lens for photography, which corrects for chromatic aberration, delivering exceptional precision and resolution. Leica Gallery (24:45): In 1976, Leica opened its first gallery in Wetzlar, Germany, followed by many more worldwide, showcasing photographic exhibitions. Oskar Barnack Award (25:41): In 1980, Leica launched the annual Oskar Barnack photo competition, honoring the inventor of the Leica camera. Leica won an Oscar for Cinema Lenses (26:22): In 2015, Leica won a technical Oscar for its cinema lenses..
