The engine was taken from the 911 roadcar but lightened by 54 kg to a total weight of 130 kg. Fibreglass reinforced plastic was used to make the body. Thanks to the use of titanium, magnesium and aluminium the overall weight could be kept to a featherweight of 620 kg for customer cars.
