The National Cabinet’s decision to force all returning travellers into quarantine is “extreme … but should reduce the coronavirus outbreaks”, according to Sky News host Chris Kenny. Every traveller entering Australia from Sunday will be forced into a 14-day quarantine as the federal government takes control of closed hotels to isolate the most dangerous source of COVID-19. Prime Minister Scott Morrison revealed the plan would mean all travellers would be forced to stay in repurposed hotels in a desperate bid to slow the spread of the killer coronavirus. Health authorities have confirmed two-thirds of the cases in Australia originated from overseas. Mr Kenny said while mainstream Australia has done “a good job” with self-isolating, people cannot let up just yet. “If we can all be disciplined now, prevent community transmission, these new measures should cut the imported infections to the absolute minimum,” Mr Kenny said. “So it is up to us to prevent community transmission. Look at Italy, look at Spain, look at the US. “We don't want that to be us, the next week or two will be critical. Carn Straya, I reckon we can do this.”
