Hey guys…Mr. Wellness here with another Wellness 101. As the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic begins to slow down…many businesses have started to re-open. However, in an effort to keep “the curve” flattened, several companies have opted to allow their employees to continue to work from home for the foreseeable future. As this becomes the “new normal”, some of you may still be struggling on how to work efficiently from home...and so beyond the obvious of getting out of your pajamas to start your work day, we’ve got the steps to help keep you productive and proficient all from the comforts of your living room. STEP ONE: Pick a Dedicated Office Space Not everyone has the luxury of having their own home office. However, it is important to dedicate the same specific area in your house for you to work every day. It is very easy to get distracted if you’re working from the couch or your bed. These spaces are associated with leisure time and your brain will have a tough time buckling down if it thinks it’s in relaxation mode. STEP TWO: Use the Laundry as a Timer Toss a load into the washer and then use that time to complete a task off your to do list. When the laundry buzzer goes off, flip the loads and attack another task. Committing to one assignment during the wash cycle and another during the dry cycle can train you to work smarter on tasks that you might technically have all day to procrastinate on…plus you’ll get a ton of laundry done in the process! STEP THREE: Take Walking Meetings Got a meeting coming up that you don’t need to be in front of the computer for? Then grab your blue tooth headphones and head outside. The fresh air and exercise are great for your body, creativity and overall well-being. You’ll return to your desk with a renewed vigor that will help you attack the rest of the day! STEP FOUR: Pick a Specific Quit Time Working from home can make you easily lose track of time. Remember, you don’t have coworkers, whose packing up and leaving the office will remind you to do the same, so try setting an alarm to indicate your normal workday has come to an end. It’s all about work/life balance folks! Working from home can certainly take some getting used to. There are a ton of distractions that can keep you completely sidetracked if you’re not careful. Just like at the office…it’s important to establish a routine and stick to it. You won’t believe how much you can get done in a day. In time, you may even find that you are more productive working at home than the office! Don’t forget to smash that like button and subscribe to our YouTube Channel for more Wellness 101!
