Despite looking very similar to their parents, Macaw fledglings still have a lot of learning and growing to do before they are capable of making a living of their own in the wild. Young Macaws are very dependent on their parents; even after fledging the nest, they continue to depend on them for feeding during months. Thanks to the support of Indianapolis Zoo to the development of our aviaries and our Breeding Center’s work, we can provide these chicks with a great space to develop their social, foraging, and flying skills as they grow up.
