The Common Base (CB) amplifier is mainly used in high-frequency applications because it offers low input resistance, high output resistance, and good voltage gain with a wide bandwidth. It is commonly used in RF circuits, antennas, and communication systems where high-frequency and voltage amplification are needed. In contrast, the Common Collector (CC) amplifier, also called an emitter follower, provides high input resistance, low output resistance, and high current gain with a voltage gain of nearly unity. This makes it ideal for buffering, impedance matching, and driving low-impedance loads such as speakers, sensors, and antenna circuits. Together, CB and CC amplifiers are designed to serve complementary roles in electronic systems—CB for voltage and high-frequency amplification, and CC for current gain and signal buffering.
