I copied the patterns by ear and also tried to catch the vibe of each original track as much as possible, using only the internal EQ and sampler fx. Later I expanded the series to synthesizer medleys and full tracks. It led me to a lot of contacts, collaborations and releases. Now I wanted to reboot this in portable music production. Jim Audo's GR16 iPad app felt very much like the Electribe SX in use. So I started transferring my old beats to the newer medium, improved and expanded them to do another series of classic drumbeats, to inspire new music. The Novation Launchpad Pro Mk3 integrates well with it and gives more tactile feel to it, as with the Electribes. It's however not necessary to use it. The result is a great sounding retro beat machine that now even fits on an iPhone. And yes, that's an LM2 at the back, not LM1. Enjoy HN
