Route from Berwang/Rinnen due to its south exposition is accessible also during light winters. I recorded this video on 20 Feb 2025. Judging from the summit book it gets at least few visitors per week during winter months. Snowshoes might come handy in the upper parts, but it will generally depends on the snow conditions and the number of people that already packed the snow on the trail. I was only using micro-spikes and trekking poles. Difficulty wise, with the snow I would rate it as T3+, without snow probably T3-, it is still 1000m to climb vertically. The video starts at the ski slope where there is a signpost saying "Thaneller 3:10" (around 1400m asl). 0:00 - Signpost next to the ski slope. 0:59 - Snow field crossing - easy to follow because of the footprints, otherwise the trail just goes straight uphill in the ridge direction, crossing another ski tracks. 6:20 - Approaching some bushes and some relieve from snow. 6:31 - Crossing scree field (on the map I believe this is marked as Grießltal) 6:50 - Back on the snow. 7:50 - A bench. 9:08 - Landslide crossing - the trail here is basically damaged, cross with caution! 13:47 - The trail gets steeper after initial relatively flat part. 24:42 - Junction with the trail from Rinnen (Kampeleplatz 1700m asl). 34:37 - The trees are getting smaller and smaller at that altitude. 37:02 - "Viewpoint" around 1900m asl, from now on the path goes straight up on the south ridge until the summit cross. 39:05 - Still few meters up through the smaller vegetation. 44:39 - First sight of the summit - still far away. 44:50 - Weather station on the left and snow field traverse. It is not really much exposed, but the amount of snow is pretty big and it is definitely better not to slide down here. 47:52 - Back on the more stable ground and end of the bushes. 53:45 - Snow field crossing - I tried to stay on the trail as much as possible. 55:39 - And more snow to climb up... 1:00:14 - Here following the trail with the snow didn't really payoff, it was pretty tedious. On the way down I stayed more on the ridge and avoided the snow field completely. 1:03:18 - It doesn't look like, but the left side is pretty steep. 1:10:00 - Final push to the summit. 1:12:00 - Summit cross!
