This is Day 1 on the John Muir Trail — but not the way I hiked it on the PCT. This time it’s a mule-supported, guided backpacking trip. Real meals. Logistics handled. Someone else setting the pace. After doing long-distance hiking self-supported, not being in charge felt… suspiciously easy. We’re hiking a section of the JMT with guides and resupplies along the way, which means actual fresh food on trail and a very different kind of backpacking experience.
