Thank you ♥ __________________________________________________________________ Røttu Skógvarnir Music by Eivør Pálsdóttir Arranged by Michael Lee ′24 Conducted by Mitchell Dubin ‘25 __________________________________________________________________ ABOUT THE WORK Røttu Skógvarnir (Right Shoes) is a song by Faroese singer Eivør Pálsdóttir (b. 1983). Much like Eivor's other songs, Røttu Skógvarnir is a mix of unique electronica, pop, and folk. The poetic lyrics talk about “taking some time to find the right shoes,” which highlights expressing patience to those around us who get left behind as they find their footing in life. The song is part of an album Slør (2015), sung in Faroese, which Eivor released alongside an English language album Bridges (2015). While writing songs for both, Eivor said,"[it] kept coming to me in such a manner that I would write a lyric in English and straight afterwards a lyric in Faroese would arrive – a kind of mirror image or reflection. Most of the songs were written together in pairs. The albums are therefore two different works yet also a unity. This has been my dream project for over 2 years now." Eivør had her first performance televised when she was 13. She has won musical awards in Iceland (2007) and her home the Faroe Islands (2012).
