A winter walk through the car-free village of Mürren, situated on a high plateau in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. Mürren offers a unique atmosphere for walking tours: overlooking the Lauterbrunnen valley at 1,638 metres, the rest of the world seems incredibly far away. It faces the Schwarzmonch, Jungfrau, and Eiger peaks and sits beneath the Schilthorn summit, which is well-known for its role as a filming location in the James Bond film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service. But I'm less interested in the James Bond stuff. I truly think Murren is the real prize of these peaks. You've got these wonderful views, wooden chalets, and the incredible quiet you can only really get from a car-free village. I skiied a little bit the morning of the shoot, and stopped at for lunch (seen at 03:41). The place just felt perfect, and the moment I finished my food I went back to where I was staying to grab my camera. I'm very glad I did. The walk in this video the main village thoroughfares and smaller residential paths, showcasing the beautifully preserved architecture and the steady rhythm of a Swiss mountain community in the height of winter. Soft snowfall sets the mood, making it the first video I've ever shot while it was snowing. It's one of my favourite videos of all I've filmed — and so I had to share it first of all the videos I've taken in Switzerland. And there's more where that came from, so stay tuned. Technical Notes: Filmed in 4K 60fps on a Panasonic GH5S with a Leica 8-18mm f/2.8-4 lens and a DJI Ronin RS4 Mini stabilizer. This video features high-fidelity stereo audio to capture the natural "Atmos" of the village, from the crunch of snow underfoot to the distant sounds of the Schilthorn cable car. Annoyingly, I lost the wind sock for my microphone early in this trip, so unfortunately there's the rumble of the wind throughout. Hope you're still able to enjoy! If you enjoy these long-form, uninterrupted walks, please consider subscribing. I intentionally avoid mid-roll ads and verbal calls-to-action to preserve the immersion and historical value of the footage.
