(Retirement Special!) Alexandria Transit Co. "DASH" 2007 Orion V #97 on Route 104

On July 1st, 2022, the Alexandria Transit Company (DASH) retired their final two active Orion V buses, and hosted an official fan trip to celebrate their retirement. The last two Orion V buses in active service with DASH were #96 and #97, which operated on routes 103 and 104 that day. These buses have reliably transported passengers around Alexandria, VA for years, despite their age and less parts being available, due to Orion being defunct. DASH was also kind enough to lend us both of the buses for a celebratory afterparty that me and some friends hosted afterwards. Both buses seen here will be preserved: #96 will stay at DASH, #97 will be given to the "Friends of the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center. In addition, #28 and #59 are already preserved by Commonwealth Coach & Trolley Museum in Roanoke, VA, and #95 will be preserved by the Museum of Bus Transportation in Hershey, PA. DASH has operated a total of 74 Orion buses since they began service in 1984: 33 Orion I buses (#1-#33), and 41 Orion V buses (#59-#99). This is the ride onboard a now retired Alexandria Transit Co.
