Sarek winter tour 2023 part 1 straight into the eye of the storm My winter tour in Sarek in 2023, I chose a different way in - I soon found myself in the eye of the storm. I first got to the STF saltoluokta mountain station to ski on my touring skis from there to the sitisujare cabin. With storms pointing at almost 40m/s, it was a very tough and demanding winter in Sarek. My winter tour in Sarek was a little different from usual when I started on the Kungsleden. I got a couple of really nice cabin nights before I crossed the Sijddojávrre lake and then went up via Rinim to ski straight into the eye of the storm. The days passed and the storm tore at the tent. Snow walls were built, extra storm lines were installed to protect me from the fierce storm. My winter tour in Sarek took place in February 2023 and a bit into March, it was a total of 14 days of touring skiing in our beautiful but whimsical winter landscape. When the skills in outdoor life are really put to the test. I use an expedition tent from the brand helsport fjellheimen x trem 3 camp, I also test a pair of newly purchased skis called Åsnes Nansen Bc Ski Wl/FL Touring skis equipped with trail skins (Åsnes X-Skin Mohair 45 mm). The kitchen is rigorously tested as it is DIY newly built with the burner "primus omnilite ti" In this build, the focus was to get rid of CO to prevent the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. the carbon monoxide meter also had to go along with the winter shower. A really hard tough winter storm I had to try again with my patched/repaired tent which has experienced many snow storms by now. Laponia, Lapland Sarek is very special and beautiful in winter time. The high mountain peaks and deep valleys are a great experience, it is also very deserted at this time in winter.
