This is a simulation of drunk driving and why you should never drink and drive. The machine has been developed by a German road safety organisation and they were demonstrating it at the Fulda Camper and Vans exhibition in September 2022. Admittedly the machine does not show how much alcohol is in the system, but it does show what the effects are. As I drive the machine in my normal state I have not only much quicker reactions but also I am in more control of the steering wheel. Perhaps most importantly, my peripheral vision is lost and this is the reason for the crash which I cause in the test. I earlier did a driving test not under the effect of alcohol and achieved reaction times of between 0.7 and 0.8 seconds. Under the effect of alcohol my reaction time was over two seconds. I know that many people think that they can drink and drive because they feel that there is nothing wrong with their reactions, I think that this test proves the opposite. Personally, I am for zero tolerance and no alcohol in the system whatsoever. I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy.
