Date of the talk: 27/01/2021 Abstract: Traditional cellular mobile networks consist of Radio Access Network (RAN) and Core Networking components inter-operating with each other based on protocol and standards. However, in order to achieve performance guarantees for next-generation mobile applications, the network needs to be optimized based on data-driven analytics and intelligence. The evolving O-RAN standards focus on automating the RAN by optimization solutions built by opening-up the RAN to 3rd party intelligence and analytics deployed in a novel RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) component, thereby facilitating a competitive and innovative ecosystem for the RAN. Short Bio: Rajarajan Sivaraj is a Principal Technical Architect at Mavenir, where he is responsible for the standardization and productization of the O-RAN-architected RIC components (non-RT RIC and near-RT RIC) and interfaces. His work focuses on disaggregating the RAN, optimizing the RAN using SDN/NFV principles and facilitating end-to-end intelligence in cellular networks using edge cloud APIs. He also actively participates and makes contributions to standard bodies such as the O-RAN alliance. Prior to joining Mavenir, Dr. Sivaraj has had work experiences at AT&T labs Research, Microsoft Research, Intel Labs, NEC Labs America, xRAN.org, Broadcom. Note: Technical issues were experienced during the talk and the connectivity with the guest was lost. That somewhat impacted the quality of the talk delivery. We tried to minimize that impact while editing the video. We do apologize in advance if the video does not entirely meet your expectations.
