I’m happy to throw up a video of another Port Macquarie Hastings truck, now one of the former side loaders which worked in the previous collection contract. In this upload we see the biggest of the domestic trucks, being one of the green machines used for the weekly organics service. I never had much luck getting these JR Richards trucks on video, but finally following a visit in mid 2013 I had footage of each of the collection vehicles. Footage of this one took a while to capture, with no luck during a family holiday some years back, then I got close to videos a second time just to have circumstances fail me, but finally a few years ago I hit the Port Mac urban area during a Thursday morning and caught this unit at work. During the video both a garbage and recycling truck also make an appearance, more of which will be seen of the two trucks in future, but maybe there’s already something uploaded of them! Hands down this has always been one of my favourite JR Richards fleets alongside the Clarence Valley truck group, but the Port Mac signage is the best with the detailed red, yellow and green livery. There was also variety with tiny bodied grab lift single axles for garbage, medium sized single axles with finger plates for recycling and then these bigger 6x4 versions for the organics. They all sounded awesome too with the old and loud Cummins engine throttling up between bins. Today a new fleet has been operating in the Port Macquarie Hastings region since late 2014, also run by JR Richards, but the trucks are no where near as exciting as the old ones - you can see them in other YouTube videos. Also seeing a change in the new contract was the bin service, with garbage changed to a fortnightly pick-up, contrary to the weekly service for both garbage and organics in the last contract (which I doubt saw optimal food waste recovery).
