How to... assign a template to the HMI in Siemens TIA Portal

This HowTo video shows you what a template is and how you can assign a template to a HMI screen in Siemens TIA Portal. Templates can be used to show certain tools, the same way/in the same position on each screen. In this example a navigation bar template is assigned to the homescreen. Another template containing a vertical row of buttons is displayed on another screen. Only 1 template can be assigned to a screen. TIA Portal is a programming environment from Siemens and specially developed for programming the S7-1200/1500 PLC and the new HMI panels. In TIA Portal it is possible to program in different languages, such as Ladder diagram (LAD), function block diagram (FBD), Statement List (STL), Graph and Structured Control Language (SCL). Templates can be added in the templates folder. It can be used to show certain tools, like this button layout, the same way on each screen. Each button contains an activate screen function, used to navigate. A newly added screen does not contain the template automatically. The template can be assigned in the properties tab of the screen. Now that the template is assigned it will be visible on the screen. Another template is made containing a few blank buttons vertically. This template will be assigned to a different screen. Only one template can be assigned to each screen. On this screen the template containing a few button is visible. The navigation bar template is not. On the homescreen the navigation bar template is visible. The vertical button template is not.
