Here's my 2019 Toyota RAV4 XSE Hybrid. I'm performing some tests in the snow and ice. I wanted to see how the rear electric motor(MGR) performs in these conditions. It was about 28F degrees and a couple inches of snow on the ground. There was some packed ice under the snow. I was really impressed with the stability of the vehicle. I don't have a lot of experience driving in snow and ice. But, I felt confident that I could go through much worse winter conditions. The tires I'm using are traction tires. That helps a lot. For a little fun, I wanted to see if I could do some donuts. I don't think this vehicle can do traditional donuts. That's because the computer starts the gas engine as soon as you press the accelerator. The rear electric motor simply doesn't have enough power to overtake the gas engine and break the rear end loose. I was able to drift or slide with some speed, but I didn't count that as donuts. The RAV4 PRIME has the advantage of being able to disable the gas engine. So it might be able to pull some gnarly donuts. As you can see I wasn't able to do regular donuts. So I cheated and went for the reverse donut. But in this case, it's an ELECTRIC REVERSE DONUT. That's because when this car is in reverse, it only uses the electric motors. I got it to spin a couple of times in reverse. I definitely had a big smile on my face.
