Police shot and injured a man who allegedly drove his car toward officers at a gas station on Sunday afternoon, according to the North Las Vegas Police Department. The incident began around 1:54 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle near the Maverik gas station at East Tropical Parkway and Nicco Way. Officer Joshua Vardoulis has been identified as the officer involved in a shooting incident on July 20, according to the North Las Vegas Police Department. Officers responded to a call at the Maverik on East Tropical Parkway, where they approached a black Honda Accord with 31-year-old Auftan Green standing outside the driver's door. After speaking with Officer Vardoulis, Green suddenly re-entered the car and attempted to drive away. During the escape, one of the children in the vehicle fell out, sustaining minor facial abrasions, police said. A second responding officer quickly moved the child to safety.
