this is a short overview of the tools used to make trumpet mouthpieces. You dont all of this stuff, but you need some kind of lathe. A unimat, sherline, chinese minilathe etc all are fine for working on or making mouthpieces. To use a backbore reamer takes more power than a unimat or sherline, but the chinese minilathe has plenty of motor power. Most people wont actually make their own backbores i guess, because its so easy to make a two piece system mouthpiece top with a tap held in the tailstock. IF you would like more videos contact me:)
