When learning a language, you have to know how to choose your words. If you're learning Spanish in Mexico, the art of albur, or jokes based on sexual double meanings, can therefore be tough to navigate. It’s part of Mexican humour, and can be found in every day conversations or internet memes, but it’s exact meaning is hard to explain! PRODUCED BY: Easy Languages is an international video project aiming at supporting people worldwide to learn languages through authentic street interviews and expose the street culture of participating partner countries abroad. Episodes are produced in local languages and contain subtitles in both the original language as well as in English. --- ¹ “Bájate por los chescos” - "Go down to get sodas" / “To go down on someone” ² "Blanco" "Techo" - This is a bit... weird. We'll explain the literal meaning and leave the rest to your imagination: If someone says "Blanco" ("white") another person can tease them by replying "Techo" (Roof) as a reference to "Te echo", which means "I throw on you". 🤷🏽♂️ ³ "Rosa Melano" - As a reference to "Rósame el ano" (Rub my ass) --- Subtitle translation: we try to translate our subtitles into English in the most literal way possible, without losing the meaning. While it may not always produce the best sounding translation, we hope you find this useful as it should reduce the need for a dictionary or grammar book to understand every sentence. --- Host of this episode: Paulina Sainz Editing: Rodrigo Dada Camera: Rodrigo Dada Translation: Harry Sumner, Agustín Tripodi, Paulina Sainz, Francisco A.
