Tōji-in is a Rinzai Zen temple located in Kyoto’s Kita Ward, about forty minutes from Kyoto Station by train and bus. Founded in the 14th century as the family temple of the Ashikaga shoguns, it features two gardens: the “Fuyō-chi Pond” Garden and the “Shinji-chi Pond” Garden. The grounds are planted with many maple trees, and in autumn, the gardens glow with beautiful colors. Enjoy the autumn scenery of Tōji-in in the radiant fall season of Kyoto. (Filmed on November 22, 2025) Filming Notes Located not far from Ryōan-ji and Ninna-ji, I visited right at opening time on the day of filming, which allowed for a quiet and relaxed walk through the gardens. Tōji-in is known for its azaleas in spring, but its autumn foliage is equally breathtaking.
