They are Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, who are called the ‘three great angels.’ “Michael” A name meaning ‘who is like God?’ Michael appears in the Book of Revelation as the leader of the heavenly army fighting against the giant dragon symbolizing Satan. His icon depicts a very strong young man, fully armed with armor and a sword. Michael plays the role of protecting humans from evil and is the patron saint of those who are about to die. “Gabriel” A name that means ‘God is my strong one’ In his Gospel of Luke, Gabriel visits the Virgin Mary and announces the birth of the Savior. In his paintings, ‘lilies’, symbolizing Mary’s purity and virginity, appear.
