This year’s Great North Run was completely different for me… Instead of starting at the front like in 2023 and 2024, I began right at the very back of the pack — with almost 60,000 runners ahead of me. And what I discovered might just change how you think about running. Because here’s the truth: you don’t have to lead from the front to inspire others. Running really is for everyone. Whether you’re chasing a PB or just soaking up the atmosphere, every step counts. From the back, the Great North Run feels like a whole new race — the crowd support, the atmosphere, the stories of the people around you. It’s less about pressure, more about connection.
