The path to Black homeownership and multigenerational wealth-building has been historically blocked in the U.S. Lori R. Gay, CEO of Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County, realtor Ashley Garner, a community outreach coordinator with the California Housing Finance Agency, and UCLA Associate Professor of Urban Planning and Public Policy Mike Lens surveyed the resources to overcome these challenges and expand homeownership opportunities for the Black community in Los Angeles. Moderated by Mitchella Gilbert (’21), Anderson Student Association VP of operations, the conversation was organized by UCLA Anderson’s Black Business Students Association and the Anderson Real Estate Association, in partnership with the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate’s Levine Program in Housing and Social Responsibility, in celebration of Black History Month.
