Tsagkarakis Gerasimos performs Taiko Uta - Gerasimos is a member of the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra and is an Artist at The Percussion Conservatory, a platform dedicated to the advancement of education in classical percussion. - From Gerasimos: "The drum is one of the most ancient instruments and has always been associated with a magical energy in various religions and cultures around the world. On the other hand, the human voice could be considered the earliest of all musical instruments, the simplest and most powerful means of an individual to express his soul and inner self. TAIKO UTA is an experimental composition that harmonically blends the unique sounds of the drum with the primitiveness of the human voice in an interactive manner. The performer is only using his bare hands without any sticks in an exploration of the endless sound possibilities of the snare drum through polyrhythmic patterns and improvisations, allowing the instrument to “speak” for itself."
