An Israeli air strike hit an area close to a camp where displaced Palestinians were staying in Gaza city. The resuming of bombardments by Israeli over the last few days has effectively shattered a weeks-long ceasfire with Hamas. Binyamin Netanyahu has been accused last night of condemning the remaining Israeli hostages to their deaths after he launched a punishing wave of airstrikes on Gaza, collapsing the ceasefire deal and killing more than 400 Palestinians. The prime minister said that the airstrikes were “just the start” and that Israel had “returned to fight, and fight with increasing might”. He said that the Israeli military “will go to intense war with Hamas” and that ­further negotiations would be conducted only “under fire”.
