Videogame journalism has gone through massive changes from the days of Computer Gaming World, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Kotaku, G4tv, and [insert your favorite influencer here]. With outlets like Polygon and Giant Bomb recently sold (and bought back in the latter’s case), the landscape for videogame journalism is drastically different from what it was 10 years ago. RPadTV host Raymond Padilla has no idea what videogame journalism is in 2025, so he asked two intelligent people from the games business – Ray Carsillo and Chris Kramer – to educate him. Raymond, Ray, and Chris will talk about the changes they’ve witnessed in videogame journalism, what they think of the current environment, predictions for future coverage, and how issues with journalism in general have affected the coverage of games. As always, Raymond would love your insights on this topic, so please leave a comment with your thoughts on the state of gaming journalism and where you think things are headed. Chris Kramer has worked as an editor for numerous editorial outlets and a public relations operative for various videogame publishers. He has held positions at Imagine Publishing, Konami, Capcom, Sony Online Entertainment, and more. Ray Carsillo is an editor, producer, and voice actor that has worked for ESPN, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Machinima, and Scuti. He currently co-hosts the excellent Geeks Who Like Sports podcast and works at 20th Century Games. RPadTV is proud to be partnering with Proton.
