First World Congress of the Abkhaz-Abaza People (October 1992)

On October 7 and 8, 1992, the First World Congress of the Abkhaz-Abaza People was held in the village of Lykhny. The Congress was attended by representatives of the Diaspora of the far and near abroad, delegates from Kabarda, Adygea, Shapsugia, Abazashty. This event became extremely important for raising the spirit and support of the Abkhaz people during the Patriotic War of 1992-1993. Divided by a century and a half as a result of historical upheavals, the Abkhaz people remained united, having rallied in the most difficult moment for modern history.
