Date: January 26, 2020 Airline: Delta Air Lines (DAL/DL) Flight: DL1554 Departure: Detroit-Wayne Co. Metro Int'l Airport (KDTW/DTW) Arrival: Las Vegas-McCarran Int'l Airport (KLAS/LAS) Aircraft: Boeing 757-351 Registration: N591NW Seat: 20F (Main) Camera: GoPro Hero 4 Black Description: Departing Detroit on a wet & snowy night with low cloud cover. After pushback, we taxied to the deice pad near the south end of the terminal for deicing, before making our way up to our departure runway. After lining up, the engines spooled up slowly to takeoff thrust (this is done to clear any ice buildup), and we set off down the runway. The takeoff roll was long, and the rotation was slow and gradual—typical for the larger 757-300s, in my experience—and the roaring sound of the PW2000 engines was really great from this seat. After takeoff, we climbed out of the airfield and immediately flew into the clouds. The climb was sort of interesting; a few minutes after takeoff, we had to level off at 9,000 ft. while we passed under the flight paths of arriving traffic, and continued climbing a few minutes later.
