Here we have a Kenwood R5000 HF Receiver 30KHz to 30MHz all mode SSB, FM, AM, CW, FSK. We look at the operation, build quality & test it fully on the Marconi 2968 Radio Comms Test Set. we also test the receiver front end sensitivity sensitivity on SSB, AM, FM, etc making 12db Signal to Noise And Distortion (SINAD) also Signal to Noise (SN) & Distortion measurements & comparing with the rated specification in the manufacturers manual. We ale demonstrate the Notch Filter used to notch out interference in the audio spectrum AF side of the receiver, where we can selectively listen to specific Audio Frequencies (AF) to better resolve whle rejecting unwanted interference from noises on the received signal & better focus on the desired audio component. we finish off by demonstrating the receiver by receiving live off air signals in all modes from around the world by connecting it to an outdoor 7 meter tall vertical HF antenna.
