My Solo folk button accordion reimagining of Paul and Linda McCartney’s “Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey,” the whimsical mini‑suite from their 1971 album "Ram." The song was released on Ram in May 1971 and issued as a US single on 2 August 1971, becoming Paul’s first post‑Beatles number‑one on the Billboard Hot 100. Built from several song fragments stitched together by engineer Eirik Wangberg, it echoes the medley approach of the Beatles’ Abbey Road, with lush orchestral arrangements by George Martin. This was one of my earliest favorite tunes as a kid. “Uncle Albert” was inspired by McCartney’s real uncle and has been described as an apology from his generation to the older one, while “Admiral Halsey” pokes fun at an authoritarian figure loosely based on US Fleet Admiral William “Bull” Halsey. #paulmccartney #unclealbertadmiralhalsey #70smusic This is my own improvised reduction/ arrangement performed by me (Chauncey Canfield). I do not own the rights to this composition. If you appreciate intricate melodies, thoughtful compositions, and the unique sound of the folk button box, you're in the right place. Don't forget to like this video, subscribe for more acoustic covers, and let me know in the comments what other songs you'd love to hear on the accordion!
