Sillcocks and hose bibbs are outdoor water faucets attached to the exterior of a house. They have a threaded spout which can be used to connect to a garden hose. They can also simply be used to tap water while outside. Many plumbing codes require frost free sillcocks intended to eliminate the risk of damaged pipes due to extreme cold. Frost free sillcocks are designed to prevent water from freezing in the pipe and bursting. Some sillcocks contain an anti-siphon vacuum breaker. These unique valves prevent water from siphoning back into the drinking supply. Sillcocks come in varying lengths to fit through walls of varying sizes. Hose bibs are generally shorter. The pipe goes through wall to make a connection, and the pipe connections are made at back. These can be threaded, sweat, PEX, etc. There are also varying options for handles on the outside end such as round, t-handles and levers.
