A special tribunal in Bangladesh has found former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina guilty of crimes against humanity for her role in the deadly crackdown on student-led protests in July and August 2024. The verdict against the exiled leader, who is currently in India, has triggered widespread protests and arson across Bangladesh by her Awami League supporters. The International Crimes Tribunal is also delivering verdicts for her co-accused, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who has turned state witness.
