From executive producer Stephen King, director/executive producer Jack Bender and showrunner/executive producer Benjamin Cavell, the MGM+ series The Institute tells the story of what happens after Luke Ellis (Joe Freeman) is kidnapped and finds himself trapped in a facility with other kids and teens, all of which have unusual abilities. Torturing those held captive, in order to bring out their powers of telekinesis (TK), telepathy (TP), or the rarest known as precognition (PC), and pushing them to limits so extreme it could break them makes it hard to see what the greater purpose of it all could be. At the same time, former police officer Tim Jamieson (Ben Barnes) was wrestling with his own demons in a nearby town, eventually ending up crossing paths with Luke and learning about what’s been going on with the children at the Institute. Now that they’re both aware that there’s a larger plan and bigger mystery, it will be up to them to figure out what they’re going to do next. During this interview with Collider, co-stars Barnes and Freeman discussed the Tim and Luke dynamic, the pressure that comes with taking on a King story, putting together the pieces of the mystery, how Freeman found the experience of taking on a TV series, what Barnes enjoyed about playing this complicated good guy, and what they’d like to see happen with their characters in Season 2. #theinstitute #stephenking #benbarnes #joefreeman #tvseries For interviews, movie reviews, and more visit https://collider.com FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL / collider / collider / collider
